He is undertaking a doctoral programme in Department of Communication and Media, Lund University and currently working on a PhD research that brings together digital media, creativity and participatory cultures in Southeast Asian cities. This research deals with cultural memory perspective and employs digital ethnography and documentary photography as its approach.
Before joining Lund University as a doktorand (PhD student) in March 2016, he has taught in Department of Communications, Islamic University of Indonesia (UII), Yogyakarta from August 2006 to February 2016 mainly in the field of media and cultural studies. He has published a book, five edited books, book chapters, journal articles, newspaper and magazine articles, and photo essays mostly on Indonesian media and its cultural contexts, as well as exhibited documentary photography projects. Now he lives in Lund, Sweden, and pursues his passion in the field of media and cultural studies both as a young scholar and a passionate documentary photographer.
