Resilience and everyday resistance under pressure: routines and creativity of independent Russian journalists between 1980 and 2020
We are happy to invite you to Valeriia Sementina’s idea seminar for her doctoral thesis in Media History.
Valeriia Sementina joined the PhD program in Media History in 2024. Her main research interests are journalism and journalistic routines and practices in post-Soviet Russia. Valeriia Sementina has a BA in Journalism from St. Petersburg State University, Russia, and an MSc in Media and Communication Studies from Lund University, Sweden. Before starting her doctoral studies, she worked as a journalist and editor, covering local economy and bottom-up initiatives in Russian cities outside the capital region.
The PhD project will focus on the way independent Russian journalists have adapted to the cultural, social, economic and political changes in Russia between 1980 and 2020.
