Research at KOM

Media, communication and culture are central to understanding broader trends and transformations in society, politics, economics and everyday life. Within Lund University, the Department of Communication and Media builds on a long tradition of research within the humanities and social sciences, including sociology, history, rhetoric and pedagogy, literature and film. Researchers combine quantitative and qualitative social science methods, and arts and humanities methods with theories and ideas to understand the role media, culture and society plays in broader social, political, cultural and historical contexts. Recent projects and publications focus on citizenship, democracy and participation, social activism, media scandals, audiences, consumption, print history, and didactics.
