Ph D Course: Rhetoric, Democracy and Participation

The 5th NKRF Conference invites Ph. D. students and interested others to take the third cycle course "Rhetoric, Democracy and Participation" during the conference week. It is hard to imagine any thesis project in the broad field of rhetoric that isn't linked to this theme in some way.
The course starts after noon on Monday the 13th of October, and continues until noon on Wednesday the 15th. It is led by Professor Ekaterina Haskins of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The course language is English.
The focus of the course is the potential and actual role of rhetoric in contemporary liberal democracies, based on issues of civic participation in political contexts. The course is structured around lectures, workshops and project presentations by the participants.
Academic credits is given according to the level of active participation in the course, e.g. presentations and project papers.
